I will often use the term 'best friend' when talking about my closest friends. I find it provides context when telling a story. It's a simple term that brings with it an understanding that I'm talking about someone who knows me best in life. Recently, someone pointed out that it was a childish notion best reserved for playground fun. I disagree. Are you ever too old to have a best friend? No matter our age, don't we all need someone in our life who is a constant, sharing laughter in good times and listening in the not-so-good times? I think so.
